A BRIEF HISTORY

Its construction began in 1892, made possible by the generous donations of John B. Stetson, a Philadelphia hat maker that was good friends with Henry Deland, the founder of Deland Academy, present day Stetson University. By the time the building was completed, it contained a center portion and two wings with all three portions containing three floors. Elizabeth Hall still remains one of the most loved and utilized buildings on campus. With it holding the offices for the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences as well as departments for Economics, Philosophy, History, Math, and Political Science, there are lots of students within its walls for the better part of the year
